  1. In 1940, German tanks were nothing special. Germany beat France with tactics and allowing front runners to make their own decisions. The Flak 88 was amazing but logistics were difficult due to large shells and large crew. The British lost all of their pre-war guns at Dunkirk. The 57mm Six Pounder Anti Tank was quickly introduced. This smaller weapon was easier to support and deadly to German armour. It was superseded by the 18 pounder and 25 pounder but remained in use throughout the war.
