The SR71 flew as high and fast as the XB70 but was never shot down. However it did have hybrid turbo-ramjet engines.

Suggestion for future video. The Bell X-1 was always sold as an all American design. But it actually had a forerunner in the form of Miles M.52. In 1943 Miles were tasked with an aircraft capable of 1000mph for 1000 miles. In 1946 almost ready to fly, the project was cancelled. At that point nobody had exceeded speed of sound in level flight. The M.52 had a cockpit pod that doubled as intake spike for the turbo jet engine. The pod sat on explosive bolts for separation if the pilot needed to escape. Compare it to the air launched rocket powered Bell X-1 and tell me they are not closely related.
