  1. Alvin Weinburg, Rickover’s main designer held a number of patents for the submarine PWR. He always said it was an Incredibly safe power plant. However he also said that scaling it up to utility power station sizes was asking for trouble. Weinburg invented the Molten salt reactor. He ran the MSRE at Oak Ridge for five years running provocative tests with a single problem.
