  1. Old nukes as in pressurised water reactors (PWR) are extremely safe but mitigation of the internal hazards cost huge sums. Molten salt reactors remove almost all of those hazards AND the fast spectrum reactors can burn 99% of what we like to call waste. These things are cheap to build because they don’t have to control non-existing hazards.

  2. The Moltex reactor literally burns used “waste” nuclear fuel. Waste half-life drops from 30,000 years to 30 years. Yes really. They are building a plant at New Brunswick in Canada which will be fuelled with irradiated nuclear fuel aka nuke waste.
