  1. I used to work in coal fired power stations. They grind the coal into a fine dust so that it burns like a gas flame. PF Dust leaks are treated extremely seriously. We had a boiler flame blown out by a sudden water tube leak. The boiler was purged with air then an oil burner was lug to dry the water. Wet PF ash sets like concrete. The coal dust had not fully dispersed and the explosion blew out the back of the boiler. Nobody hurt because it was a known dangerous condition. But it graphically demonstrated the power of fuel air explosions.
