  1. Sep 11 was horrible but the solution was not to carpet bomb Afghanistan or remove dictators. Saddam and Gaddafi were horrible but they kept even worse nutters under control. Not good, but look how the alternative turned out. Don’t forget that Blair couldn’t wait to step in with GW Bush. Dodgy dossier and all.

  2. USA has provided arms deals at prices that local industries can’t compete with. France refused to be taken in, but UK and Canada definitely allowed their defence aircraft industries to be thrown away. (Think the Avro flat fighter and British TSR2).
