  1. Ive had outer CV joints make a ticking noise on full steering lock (worn internally but no way would they fall apart.  I had the central retaining nut shear off on an Austin Mini which caused the wheel to come loose. Clearly dangerous, but it was not visible until it failed.

  2. I have a modified ball joint separator fork for releasing the inner CV joints. It's cut down the middle with a spacer plate welded in making it wide enough for releasing the inner splines on Fiats. Something like this VW would need a pair of fox wedges to get into the narrow gap.

  3. Thos bottom ball joint bolts could do with some good quality antiseize paste on the threads.
