  1. Plutonium has a 1/2 life of (near enough) 250,000 years. It emits beta radiation that’s stopped by a sheet of paper. But the decay rate is so slow it’s almost impossible to get an overdose just by standing near the stuff. It is highly toxic but so is lead, bismuth, arsenic and many other elements.
