Parasitic losses will be huge. It’s no surprise the power is so poor. Not to mention the tiny exhaust bores that keep the gas flow low.

We had some concrete bumps that were like cut off pyramids. Anything more than 10 mph was impossible. People were wrecking wheels, tyres not to mention springs etc. There was uproar until the local officials took them out. Even then the excuse was ambulances not being able to fight though the traffic jams.

Wankel is effectively a two stroke giving three bangs per revolution from one combustion chamber. LP is a four stroke with three chambers also doing three bangs per rev. LP has fewer losses and better combustion giving considerably more efficiency. The highly diluted exhaust makes catalytic converters unlikely to work. But is a cat really needed?

That first speed bump at 80 seems have about the same frequency as the suspension. If the ABS worked you’d not be able to flatspot the tyres and you’d stop better. The car doors make the shell stiffer. Front fenders, hood, etc don’t.

Swapping the rotor/stator shapes solves the tip seal problem and the spark plug blow-by problem and the high quench problem and the early blowdown problem. The convoluted intake gas flow isn’t ideal but the design simplicity is genius.

@racionator2668 You will never see an acrylic top on an overhead valve or overhead cam engine. There is too much stuff in the way.

Water is a c. Add enough electricity to break the chemical bonds and the water will split split into the explosive hydrogen and oxygen mixture.

The name of this engine is silly. But the idea is brilliant. At a stroke, they removed virtually all of the Wankel problem areas. Only snag is that ganging more rotors onto one shaft is complicated by the plumbing.

Put a propellor on it. The power to drive it will make bigger flames.
1
Nitromethane has a high heat of evaporation so engines have to run with minimal cooling. Back in the old days, methanol water injection was used to keep engines cooled during over boost.
1
Only 13500 rpm? A tiny four stroke should be able to go way faster than that.
1
The sluggish revving is sign something is wrong. The revs should blip almost instantly.
1
That brake line is rusty. The surprise is it’s not blown out before.
1
The Wankel has many problems the worst being poor fuel consumption. The Liquid Piston (silly name) reverses the rotor and chamber shapes. It’s way more efficient and has no rotor tip problems.
1
The petrol fuel run shows how the rotor acts even better that a “proper” piston. It’s a true four stroke so it’s clean but there’s a long blowdown period so it’s efficient.

Neutron correct mixture had barely visible flame. Rich mixture let you see the flame. That’s it.

Garyc Cotugno Supercharger is simply a blower. It would do the job fine. But Wankel throws so much heat down the exhaust, a turbo makes far more sense.
1
Garyc Cotugno typical mix is 20% castor oil 70% methanol and 10% nitromethane.

The purdy channel UK petrol (gasoline) is 5% ethanol. Our diesel is 5% biodiesel (methyl ester).

doktorbimmer E85 is not a green fuel. The energy required to grow the corn and land that cannot be used for food more than negates any benefits. Biodiesel is a less energy intensive fuel but has the same land use problems.

Travis Thacker Google Ilmor 5 stroke engine. Two four strokes feed exhaust gas into one larger cylinder. It’s about 15% more efficient. Benefits are not huge.
1
Sakul you lot clearly failed to listen to what the narrator said. He put a rich acetylene mixture through the engine to create a yellow flame. All that did was demonstrate how it works. When it was running correctly you could not see the flame.
1
Running a used highly stressed jet engine without first checking the internals can't be a good idea.
1
Those pipes are way too small. Halving the pipe diameter cuts gas flow by 16x.
