  1. Germany and France kid themselves that it’s all too far away to matter. Poland IS the neighbour to Ukraine. The others are too poor (or too weak-minded) to help.

  2. Germany lost WW2 around 1934 with their infantile understanding of economics and their (genuinely) racist treatment of Slavic people. Russian peasants absolutely hated Stalin but they fought against Germany because it’s was better the devil they knew. Those peoples would have happily kept the Red Army at bay. Hitler’s racism threw that away.
