Russia does not use NCOs. There is no "middle management" to ensure the job gets done sensibly. Russian troops, are expected to exactly what they are to do by the officers and they do it regardless of value. They have already sent thousands (millions maybe) of artillery rounds into empty fields. Why? They now have a problem with ammunition supplies.

Russian forces have the Dneiper River behind them. The are no usable bridges or ferry boats for resupply. Ukraine forces simply have to keep nibbling away and the Russians will eventually collapse. There will be huge collateral damage on top of the mess already made by Russia. Every street, house and alley will be mined and booby trapped. So Ukraine can't go in fast even if they wanted to.

(1) The ship accidentally caught fire. The damage control crews were too badly trained or incompetent to deal with the fire and the munitions exploded. (2) The ship accidentally caught fire. The ship was so badly designed (or badly maintained) that munitions magazines exploded. (3) The ship was hit by missiles causing the munitions stored on the deck to explode. The whole design is a self igniting mess. Maybe, the captain went down with his ship. More likely, he was killed in the attack (along with most of his crew). Which is the most likely?

Russian artillery can’t hit a barn door at 100 metres. Fields either side roads peppered with shell holes yet barely any hits on the road. the roads show how useless they are.

Did Russia really try to tow the ship? They just happened to have a seagoing tug waiting alongside? I call BS on that. More likely the ship exploded and sank.
