  1. (1) The ship accidentally caught fire. The damage control crews were too badly trained or incompetent to deal with the fire and the munitions exploded.  (2) The ship accidentally caught fire. The ship was so badly designed (or badly maintained) that munitions magazines exploded.  (3) The ship was hit by missiles causing the munitions stored on the deck to explode. The whole design is a self igniting mess. Maybe, the captain went down with his ship. More likely, he was killed in the attack (along with most of his crew). Which is the most likely?

  2. Did Russia really try to tow the ship? They just happened to have a seagoing tug waiting alongside? I call BS on that. More likely the ship exploded and sank.
