  1. In Europe, nothing happens until permission is given. They have no indigenous investment banking industry, exactly because their prescriptive legal system stifles free thinking. The U.K. Common Law works so well because it defines what is NOT allowed. European control of The City would kill it - either deliberately or more likely by accident. The EU simply cannot resist micromanaging their regulatory details.

  2. The City of London (the acknowledged world leader) operates under the UK common law legal system and will continue that way. Europe has no significant financial industry exactly because their prescriptive legal system stifles business. Brexit “could” allow external regulatory control of The City by the EU but that would be seriously damaging. It’s unlikely to happen but investors always need to consider political risk.

  3. Migratory geese have been arriving in southern England since mid August. That is extremely early and usually indicates the up-coming winter will be even colder than usual. We already know that East Europe and Russia get very cold.
