  1. The Drake equation is far too optimistic. Earth gas just the right amount of magnetic core just the right amount of volcanoes just the right amount of clouds. Then our sun is actually a relatively rare star and Jupiter has not trolled ever inwards to hoover us up. Regardless of life elsewhere, we are incredibly lucky to be here.
