  1. Germany has a huge demographic problem. They have far too few people of working age. Offering asylum to escaping Russians makes a lot of sense. HOWEVER Russia has considerable problems with TB and alcoholism does Germany want thousands of people with chronic disease.

  2. Ukraine has turned Kherson into a cauldron trap for Russian forces. Ukraine has nothing to gain by directly attacking 20,000 Russians. They can’t resupply themselves, they can’t escape and they have no winter clothing. Eventual surrender is inevitable.

  3. The one caveat is the parlours state of public health in Russia. The medical system is dysfunctional at best. TB is endemic and alcohol dependence is a serious problem. Does Germany really want to import that?
