  1. “Mincemeat” fooled Hitler but lack of food and oil was a far bigger issue. The Axis didn’t have enough fuel for his tanks trucks trains and especially aircraft. Their bad quality fuel damaged many aircraft engines and reduced power for all of them.

  2. Mincemeat was a clever deception that fooled Hitler. However, US General Mark W. Clark spent far too long establishing his beachhead, got himself boxed in and gave time for Germany to roll in some crack panzer divisions. Considering the Alps are in the way one wonders if at least some German generals took it with a pinch of salt.
