It’s all about homologation rules. Simply fitting a bigger memory would require a complete recertification. It’s ridiculous that rules can’t accommodate such an improvement but that’s how it is.

@Mantarr1 It’s not the four missing bolts. It’s the 5th and 6th that really matter.

@giancarlogarlaschi4388 The WW2 German analogy is true, yet Germany itself was managed so badly that the railways collapsed due to starvation of operation funds and zero maintenance.

There is always a troll telling us it’s dangerous to walk without safety boots, pit helmet and walking stick.

It’s a shame the Rolls-Royce RB211 (Trent) engine was not mentioned. It was the first production three-spool high bypass engine and first ran in 1969. High bypass RR engines went back to RB178 from 1961.

Never bet against Elon. SpaceX will deliver their suborbital system. Not tomorrow or next month but it will happen.

Cracking Hydrogen from natural gas (the usual way it’s made) creates more carbon than existing fuels. Hydrogen from nuclear reactors is a much better idea but we don’t like nukes. Oh no nasty things.

My car roof is very low. I have to get low to avoid hitting my head. Why is that any different to aircraft passenger seats beneath the overhead storage.

Spacecraft manufacturers have never been able to fix the bearing failures within inertial gyroscopes. Lasers having no moving parts should be the solution.

A well managed company is a partnership between engineering and management. The latter know what the market needs. The former often struggle with “good enough”. I’ve seen a very large telecoms company fail from that last issue. The market needed features that engineers had not considered important. Management did not “interfere” in designs and they went broke.

We can be sure this tech already exists on guided missiles. They’ve not been sent to Ukraine but for sure they exist.

SpaceX sub-orbital hops (London to New York in 30 minutes) will demolish long range conventional flights. It will take a while but it’s also clear that supersonics and dead and gone.

Use drones to preflight check the folded wings. They could even be programmed to fly a fixed check pattern while streaming video data.
