The front has more folds at the corner so you get a mitered effect. I feel the back would look so much better with a similar idea and inset rear door. I don’t like the sharp box cut off corners.

Malc180s Tesla easily sell all they can make so why should they bother with the lower value lower margin end of the market. They are also low on depreciation. If you can afford the Kia E-Niro you can stretch to the Tesla and over three years spend less overall.

@donbriggs9128 Because the team which does the instruments has zero connection with the team which does the external lights or even the main wiring. Nobody speaks up, because having an opinion is "career limiting". Fiat are great for reiterating what they already have and that is good. Much of the Panda can be traced back to the Uno and some of it before that. But some things are plain annoying - bolts that are too long so the threads get dirty and wont unscrew, exhaust brackets which always break leading to damage catalyst, engine coolant pipe which always rust and will take your engine out when it leaks

Tesla are miles ahead of the competition. Certainly they are not cheap but then neither was the original iPhone. As for being a fanboy I drive an elderly Fiat. But let’s suppose I have £35K for a Kia. It’s a great car but that’s it and Kia are never good on residual values. I would rather save for a Model 3 which has low depreciation and spend less in the long run.

It’s not got a clunky engine with gears & clutch. So why is scrapping the clunky engine controls such an issue? I drive an automatic Merc van for work I really hate the RH stalk control for forward reverse and park. It also has neutral that’s near impossible to select it’s also ridiculously slow. Right turns at a T junction are a lottery. Press the accelerator - nothing happens then if jerks away and accelerates faster than you need. Mean whirl cars that were miles away are now having to brake because your Merc faffed about for so long. Simply horrible.

I have a Fiat Panda with "climate control Oh yes. My wife has a Fiat Panda with ordinary twisty knob heater/aircon. Guess which one I prefer to use? Guess which one is more reliable (apart from the ridiculous heater fan resistor that's impossible to access on a UK car).

I live in the South West where Tesla have very few superchargers though there are destination chargers (whatever they are) and some ordinary yobbo brand types.

Cover all piano black with paint protection wrap.

Petrol is energy so is Lekky. Tesla Model 3 does about 160 miles to the imperial gallon. Model S won’t be that good, but these cars are incredibly efficient. The Bugatti will not “do it all day every day”. The maintenance schedule must be a yard thick. Put track tyres on the Tesla and it might break even with the £4 million lump.
1
Tesla proved you can make cars cheaply their profit margin is currently 30% the only reason the price doesn’t come down is because the demand is huge. A big reflection on the state of the industry in general

Why does an electric car need side exhaust pipes aping a 1970s kustom kar?
1
Caravan towing chops the range of any car by at least 50%. It’s worst with the small turbo engines used in todays cars. All cars lose range when required to do serious work. EVs with a small range further expose the issues. With some luck, EVs will kill caravans. We can but hope.

BYD looks like a cheap rip-off Tesla. Expect depreciation like a Dacia.
1
They have 8 or 10 gears because all they did was slot a doubler gear into a basic box.
1
Electric cars should not be charged to 100% and left overnight because it shortens battery life. Tesla clearly tell you not do it unless you drive the car immediately. It’s also bad for the battery to run them flat. We are now told it’s quicker overall to stop regularly and top up the charge rather than keep going and wait for a full charge to fill It.

I hate the over fussy styles to compensate for the boring car underneath. Toyota and the other East Asian manufacturers are the worst, with BMW a close second.

Citroen CX would be fantastic, complete with its amazing brakes suspension and steering.
1
EVs are efficient in town (1) acceleration is slow (2) wind resistance is minimal (3) regen braking recovers the energy used to get up to speed. Constant speed on motorway loads up with wind resistance. There is no regen braking so battery gets hammered.

Looking at almost every car today, you'd have to be an idiot to want to buy any of them.
1
Of course it’s the best EV in the world - when Tesla is ignored. It looks well thought out but why is there a hatchback style with no hatch? Also why is it cool to raise the floor (to fit batteries) without raising the seats?
1
Engines will catch up at higher speeds.but electric is so much easier to drive.

I loved William Towns’ Hustler cars especially Huntsman and Highlander. I think Citroen CX is stunning. But that BuMW is absolutely horrible. I would not be seen dead in that thing. Hideous.
1
Tesla don’t have any ICE heritage so they can think right out of the box. The Audi and Jag are reworked engine cars so no surprise they are so heavy. They are also just ordinary where with Tesla you get all the - erm - Tesla stuff. also everyone wants one so low depreciation. They are a no brainer.
1
The Tesla Model S looks good. I'm not so keen on the bare face of the Model 3 and Model Y. The big touch screen Hmm,...

What a massive dud. It’s far too expensive and that horrific design is inflicted on the 99.9% of us who are far enough along the bell curve to see that it’s just cr#p. I’ll bet it’s got a huge battery and long charge times, because BuMW can’t build efficient power electronics and motors.
1
@G82Watts Tesla already said their mission is to move everyone to electric cars. Part of that is cheap cars most people can afford. They are competing with the whole legacy industry not just the fancy names.
1
@adambodhi431 Making hand-held phones illegal was a government knee-jerk. It will have helped safety a little but it’s done far more for the surveillance industry that exists to catch transgressors.
1
@dzonikg After 12 months, it’s worth £15K if he’s lucky.
1
The subframes are cast aluminum. The 9000 tons is the clamping force which allows the molten metal to be injected in a fraction of a second.
1
That Hummer growl would soon get annoying. But I can’t drive anything above 3,500Kg unladen so it doesn’t matter.
