  1. We are no longer in a post war situation (WW2 or Cold War). We are now in a pre war situation. The parallels with 1935-38 are frightening.

  2. Putin stealing (sorry) nationalising the steel industry is much the same as how Hitler handled Heinkel and his aircraft company. Sadly other industrialists failed to appreciate what was going on and too many were doing nicely from Hitler’s war preparations.

  3. The political crisis that became World War 1 was started by Serbia shooting an Austrian head of state. The full truth is that Russia triggered a far bigger war by fully backing Serbia. Russia was untrustworthy 110 years ago. Russia never changes.
