Check out Ian Scott of Moltex. He explains really well his design philosophy and that his plants can burn nuclear waste. It’s actually a massive energy resource with no mining needed.

Moltex (U.K.) and Elysium (USA) use liquid Chloride salts (table salt). The corrosion issue is less than high pressure water used in today’s huge PWR plants. They operate in the fast spectrum so have no carbon moderator. These have a useful life and have to be changed out being fast spectrum they can burn the (normally) problematic elements found in used nuclear fuel. They goggle up the bad stuff releasing 20 times the original energy taken by the old PWR reactor.

Look at what Moltex and Elysium are doing. They have intrinsically safe low cost reactors cheap to build and cheap to operate. They also burn nuclear waste. The very stuff (with 30,000 yeas half life) that we are told to stress about is a massive fuel resource. A big component of Fukushima radiation release is that nuke waste stored on site.
