It’s time Ukraine had tools to stop glide bombs in flight. Hopefully they are working on solutions.

It is ridiculous that areas Russia claims for itself are not allowed to use donated weapons across the international borders.
45
Oh don’t be silly. Moscow is on the plan for next month.
31
Was it ever that high? Voledar is at least 10 Russians per Ukraine. Maybe many more (for very few) as Ukraine is well dug in.
22
Prigozhin predicted Ukraine’s moves around Bakhmut at least a week ago. He must have been watching YouTube.
21
Even worse imagine realising you can’t move forward because the fields are bristling with land mines. But you can’t move back because your friends have infested those areas as well and nobody thought to document the safe areas.
20
Anybody competent is considered a threat and removed. Stalin took out Lenin. It’s impossible to know how Zukov survived under Stalin’s mad rule.
19
Russia has two tactics (1) In advance , flatten everything with artillery and move in. (2) In defence, dig trenches, lay mines and hope for a frontal attack.
17
Russia has made a few small tactical gains using WW1 human mass methods. These acts of desperation are not what Putin expected his three day operation to become.
17
That queue of expensive cars should raise the value of cars in Russia by about 10x.
17
It’s sad these towns get flattened. However they were functional places with Soviet panelka blocks and miserable low rise housing. Hopefully Ukraine will be able to rebuild with housing that people actually want to live in.
16
A bodged up fake video of tanks would be more convincing.
16
Keen it’s don’t exist to make money. Their operators do use YT rules to get Ukraine channels shut down.
16
Russia laid so many mines it’s likely that most if not all are just on the surface. The snags will be when brambles, nettles and tall grass take over.
15
@TheRealBillBob Clearly he was not killed as he’s still kicking Russian ass.
13
To date the slow build has kept Putin from going stupid things (eg nukes) while Ukraine has got a lot of stuff. But ignoring the dam destruction and agonising about cluster bombs are both signs of weakness that will have encouraged Putin.
13
Russian soldiers complain about poor pay poor conditions and incompetent leaders. They never say the war is totally wrong and illegal. They don’t deserve to be saved and given a new life in Ukraine.
12
They could have surrendered long ago.
11
What’s to say Russian nukes would work if used. ? They need ongoing, specialist (expensive) maintenance and the cores have a finite life. Obviously Russians do all of that. Nothing gets syphoned off. The exerts have not been sent to man the trenches.
9
GLSDB Mk 1 was unsuccessful. Hopefully the French gliding bomb manufacturer can advise how to correct the GLSDB avionics.
8
To hamper repair work, railway IEDs should also be used on lines around the derailment. Also hit the specialist cranes when they go to remove crashed cars.
8
@anthonywilson4873 That particular democracy is significantly flawed when it allows on politician to choose what the government discusses with no means to stop him. The US constitution will never change (a good thing) but it is a flaw nonetheless.
7
Russia lost it’s experienced troops in Kyiv, Bakhmut and Voledar. They don’t have a training system and never really had any trained troops. They were all people who learned on the job during easy “wars” or just being there for a long time. Those men were never much good (they just keep doing the same broken methods) and are now long dead.
7
We are told Russia destroyed 60,000 tones in one silo.
7
Musk is the most successful entrepreneur ever known, because selects for competence over anything else. He would be a terrible dictator.
6
@죽은_시민의_사회 Drone crews send information up the chain. Some Erk at head office decides who to warn. More likely it just gets lost in the noise.
6
Watch out for 6-9.
5
European Greens have been funded by KGB/FSB for many decades. It’s been incredibly successful for Russia with nuclear power rubbished and gas sales gone mad.
5
@samgragas8467 Russian nuke capable missiles can’t evade the Patriot air defences. Actual nukes would be no better. Russian abysmal maintenance would prevent their nukes from exploding even if they did get through.
5
@andersjjensen Don’t forget Vlad Vexler who covers Russian politics and psychology. Russian Dude pushes the Ukraine point of view but his numbers look realistic and there is no pretence of “balance”.
5
Maybe the loss of the AWACS and command centre aircraft have had a bigger effect than expected.
4
The Russians had no pants but no soldiers to wear those pants.
4
@meoff7602 Russian soldiers had more than enough time to dig in. The orders telling them to do it are still working though the system.
4
They lost their way home because they drank all the vodka. There’s no point in going home. There’s none there either.
4
12 to 18 months is the time to move up to fast jet status. Ukraine pilots need a new type status. Much less time needed. However who is training the ground support crews?
4
There is no fundamental difference between Putin’s Russia and the old USSR. If he gets the chance we will see USSR -2.
4
We do not need to know anything that is useful to Russia.
3
Boxy cardboard drones loaded with a plastic bag of gasoline would be a great way to start rubber fires on those parked aircraft. All they need is more range.
3
Why does Russia continue to house troops and heavy ammunition together? They never learn.
3
It’s a bit post. Ignore it.
3
NATO has realised it has to step up or become irrelevant. It takes time but they have found nearly 2 million shells to date.
3
@benhudson4014 I check anything the algo might not like by trying to edit it. If it’s not ok the edit won’t work. Now copy the text and delete the “offending” comment. Create a new comment using the copy and edit anything that’s likely to trigger a wimp. It’s a faff but you soon catch what upsets the software.

Denys Davidov is another great reporter on the war.
2
All Victoria Cross medals are made from the one Crimean War cannon.
2
Biggest problem is pilot training. NATO countries already have their pilot forces. Training facilities are adequate to keep up with normal replacements.
2
Storm Shadow is not a bunker buster. But the new SDGB easily could be. Is this one of the first uses of the new weapon?
2
Russian minefields are completely random. Even they don’t know where the mines are.
2
NATO could get the job done in a couple of months if they allowed the necessary equipment and consumables into Ukraine.
2
@QuotidianStupidity Have you never heard the word, “metaphor”.
2
Zelenski has said that deserting Russians will be given anonymity and classed as being captured. Claims will be made that he’s reneged on that. However it has to stick or nobody will walk away from Russia.
