  1. Shimmering Sword is 100% correct. The towns Russia overruns, are literally rubble filled craters. There is no town left. Russia used exactly the same methods during WW2. Germans were blamed for wholesale slaughter and scorched earth tactics . In reality, it was Russia flattening everything ahead of their forces.
