I followed a CX (the later model) over an ordinary road on a Yamaha 900 motorcycle. It was night time, so could see cars coming the other way but I could barely keep up. The CX was considerably bigger and not much more powerful but incredibly capable of maintaining high speeds.

DS technology especially steering and brakes should never have been sidelined. It’s a huge shame that Tesla have not employed the systems. Two independent electric pumps would solve perceived safety issues.

Early catalysts we’re pretty useless and increased fuel consumption. They only worked properly when electronic injection came along. 2CV was cancelled by Peugeot because it could never meet the upcoming EU demanded safety rules.

The motor industry really screwed up by ignoring the Citroen hydraulic system. As a system it’s far less complex (therefore cheaper to build) that the separate brakes, steering and suspension that has always been used.

My in-laws had a Renault 4. Pretty much a 2CV but a bit larger. It went down country lanes faster than anything else on the road.

The rear suspension moves a lever that puts hydraulic pressure into the rear struts. The height control lever moves the set point. The weight (or not) just changes the pressure demanded by the rear struts.
