Nuclear fusion is hard. Nuclear fission is easy. Both need radiation shielding and other safety measures but the latter is cheap. Fast spectrum molten salt nuclear is intrinsically safe. It removes all of the inherent hazards caused by any other technology. That makes it cheap. The fast spectrum means no long term waste. Everything gets burnt.

@Hybridog It’s all about attracting research funding. It’s not a scam but it’s very close.

The sun was not killed by a faulty game controller.

Hydrogen carries a fraction of the energy capacity at far worse generator to wheels efficiency. A half decent diesel is more efficient. Hydrogen. There then the issue of metal embrittlement very heavy fuel tanks and a loss of fuel over time as it boils off.

Separating heavy hydrogen isotopes from water is an enormous task that demands huge energy. All that has to be deducted from any energy created by the fusion plants. Now add the enormous power needed to contain the high temperature plasma and there’s a net output of nothing.

The Cybertruck is undoubtedly very efficient but you are overstating your case. HGV diesels can get close to 50% efficiency. Car diesels around 40%. Petrol at best is 30% more likely less than 20%. But batteries and motors are not around 90%. The power has to be generated and transmitted. The best gas fired plants are around 65% but there are losses in transmission of power and for pumping gas. So an electric truck or car is really getting 90% of 50%. About the same as HGV diesel. The big win is power recovered in braking and part load efficiency. The US EPA says a Tesla car has an MPG equivalent of 150mpg (UK gallon). At least three times that of a piston engine car. A Tesla truck will have the same tech so expect to see some stunning figures.

@NwoDispatcher Teflon doesn’t stick. How do you expect it to stay stuck to the ship?

Tesla Truck is might be too heavy for moving max weight payloads. But most Heavy Goods Vehicles are short on load space not load weight. That’s why we see so many tall and long curtain-siders.

The Wright Brothers realised that propeller pitch has to reduce down the blade length. Their propellers were surprisingly efficient. Not bad for a first to do it business.
1
Homologation of these propellers will take decades. So don’t hold too much hope for a quick fix.

Manatees in Florida suffer horrific injuries from boat propellers. Simply adding an external ring would be a huge improvement. Making a more efficient propeller makes it a no brainier.

If wave energy machines actually worked why are they not used to power the lights on navigation buoys? Instead we use batteries that have to be replaced. I suggest the whole thing is a way to extract research money from gullible providers.

The tip vortices will not clash because one spins off clockwise and the other anti clockwise. They cross but don’t interfere.

Full Self Driving will arrive. When it does truck driving and taxi driving JOBS will be the first to go. Within 10 years people in towns will stop buying cars. Why bother when you can rent a Tesla for 5p a mile.
