  1. I used to be a technical author. Snowflakes can't handle it. The culture is that criticism of anyone's work is part of the job. People are not personally rude but they are often very direct about the "product". We get too close our subject and don't see mistakes that are obvious to others. Peer-group editing is an extremely good way to get the job done well. Many software developers have target fixation and hate being called out for sub-optimal designs. I found that documenting software needs a careful approach. Right first time IS their problem to get sorted out. Do it right and they'll be asking you to help with peer reviews.
