  1. The condensed gas is cooled to ambient in the condenser. When it’s evaporated into gas (in the evaporator) the temperature drops significantly. It’s this which gives the chilled air into the cabin. A home fridge-freezer works in the same way. Incidentally propane is cheap an excellent refrigerant and it has zero effect on the stratospheric ozone layer. Some might say it’s a fire risk but so is your gas lighter.
