  1. The legacy industry could add a great deal to its vehicles by using electric transmission. It’s been used by railway locomotives for at least 60 years so proven technology. You add a generator and traction motors. You get rid of clutch, gearbox, differential and associated controls. Add some batteries and your engine only needs to meet steady state power demand. Acceleration and braking is supplied and absorbed by the battery. Engine runs at peak efficiency with easy to control emissions.
