  1. The mains water supply is usually pressurised by pumps it’s therefore not free energy. Flowing water in streams and small rivers could be used to generate power. The Teign and Dart in Devon U.K. do have some Archimedes screw generators but the main flow is allowed to run so as to don’t damage the river. That said, U.K. has numerous small mills which just let the water flow by. A small turbine with flood bypass could easily be installed. Sadly they are almost always ignored.
