Why is USA not removing all of its forces from Germany? UK has removed it's armed forces in Germany. It was a throw-back to the cold War, so who knows why they have been there for so long.

@jeffrose2105 Germany has more than enough resources to protect its own borders. If they can't be bothered to keep Putin out, perhaps they should accept that he is the real boss over the EU.

@Gadgetsix Does your comment have any point to it?

Russia fully controls the south and east side of the Dnieper river. Ukraine has no military interest whatsoever in shooting at the power station. The problems there are entirely due to Russian shelling and Russia cutting the grid power lines to the site.

Ukraine has made Russia pay an immense cost for the strategically unimportant Bakhmut. In total around 100,000 Russian lives. It’s been an amazing operation that NATO had not even considered. Ukraine will now pin down even more Russians at minimal cost.

Cheap gas from Russia came with extremely expensive side effects. Alternatively Russia has the dirts on every top politician in Germany and is applying pressure.

Back in 2015 at Keele University in UK, Peter Hitchens delivered a stunning and stinging lecture on Germany and the EU. Germany and the EU are inextricably connected. That’s not necessarily a bad thing but Germany really should accept its responsibility in this.

Putin is following the Soviet narrative. We are victims in the Great War against X. The whole country must unite in battle.

This hideous war has forced Ukraine to deal with the endemic corruption that’s been part of how Russian forces moved do fast in the south. It’s also been a stain on their politics for decades. Hopefully they can cut it down to the best countries of EU. Though bear in mind that EU is not squeaky clean.

On this basis at least 75 million voters can’t understand plain English. Trump is not dangerous to USA. He is dangerous to the old GOP and the corrupt officials who ran twisted elections.

The war is being dragged out to bleed the Russian economy. But to date everything done by the Biden regime has failed so it's hard to be hopeful.

ATACMS costs about $1 million per missile. GLMRS cost about $100,000 though some reports say 50,000 per rocket.

Surovikin has done nothing to change Russia’s standard (and broken) method of conducting a war. The doctrine is waves of men or tanks against immovable defences. When they all get slaughtered just rinse and repeat. Surovkin simply put blockers behind the cannon fodder so they could not retreat. His approach with tanks was no different. He’s certainly no military genius. He’s not even fit to be a military janitor.

The British Public do not want the EU to control our governments after we have supposedly left. The State Aid and Level Playing Field demands by the EU amount to them continuing to control what UK is allowed to do. That would not be acceptable to any self respecting country, UK is no different. .

Russia is making it all too easy. I smell a trap. They might even leave the conscripts, nuke the city when Ukraine forces move in.
1
Germany is paying Russia $1 Billion PER DAY for gas and oil. They are not interested in cutting that.

Germany (and therefore EU) are asking for a ceasefire. They know that’s giving exactly what Putin wants and will simply lead to continuing war in the future. We are taking the pain (high fuel prices) but are in danger of achieving nothing. It’s interesting has the German minister says that Ukraine is “demanding” tanks and APCs. That clearly shows how they think.

Ukraine needs to take out a few more Russian ships and attack the Russian assault as they did in Kyiv. It's a big ask.

Putin has escalated this war from day one. He respects significant force. Anything less is nothing to him.

Russian sabres rattle then they bomb civilians. Meantime Russia kills its own people in meat wave attacks. The risk caused by not transferring F-16s is orders of magnitude greater.

Check out the videos from Ed Pheil of Elysium and Ian Scot of Moltex. They both have fission reactors that will burn nuclear waste. The result will be no radioactive no longer than the waste from fusion reactors. The huge difference is cost. The new molten salt fission reactors will be very low cost to build, operate and to fuel.
1
Ukraine has four nuclear power plants with 15 reactors between them. The one recently targeted by missiles is down in the south. The Russian military really is not in control of its generals.
1
Russia planned to cut off the entire south of the country. Giving them a direct route to Yugoslavia and putting northern Ukraine out of business. They would not stop there. Poland, Hungary and the Baltics are all at risk.

In UK the most useful news on Ukraine comes from Telegraph Newspaper podcasts. Sadly leftists, who support opposition to Putin, refuse to admit the Telegraph (newspaper) output is worth hearing.

The women and children are being taken as slaves. The men are cannon fodder.

Russia is moving its ruling classes out and deporting as many lesser civilians as they can move.

I’ve only seen reports but to date the information contained in the (allegedly) leaked reports has all been there in the public domain. Obviously any security breach is bad, but this one looks pretty benign.

Fusion needs rare isotopes of hydrogen - tritium and deuterium. These ARE found in sea water but they are extremely costly to extract. Nuclear fission is clean and safe. The issue is cost of making its inherently hazardous plants fully safe. The new molten salt plants are a much more simple design. They have very little that can go wrong and they cannot melt down. The problem with fission is not the process it’s they way we chose to design our reactors. Today’s PWR reactors can’t extract more than 5% of the fuel energy. The remaining 95% is classed as “irradiated waste”. We now have the technology to fully burn the fuel (or indeed the waste) leaving no long term waste. We also get 24 times as much power from a given amount of new fuel. The companies Moltex and Elysium have fully engineered designs ready to go. The delays are entirely regulatory. In USA they are geared to regulate only the current reactors (PWR). In U.K. we go through the whole process for every new design but the system is painfully slow and expensive. The first Moltex plant is being built in Canada. It expects to be making electricity before 2030. The fuel will be entirely spent waste from an old plant next door. The current 30,000 years 1/2 life will be reduced to 30 years. Moltex expect the plant to cost less to build that a natural gas fired plant. Fuel costs are zero because they are solving a costly storage problem. Operating costs are low because the plant is intrinsically self-regulating.
