  1. There’s another video where the ZF eight speed with lock up torque converter is shown to be more efficient than a manual. Personally I would accept a few compromises to not have the hassle of manual shifting. Epicyclic gears used in autos will take huge torque very smoothly and efficiently. The torque converter is usually locked up. It only really works for traffic crawling or moving away from standstill. The tiny loss of efficiency’s balanced by never needing to replace the clutch.
