  2. Difficult questions are fine when they are properly neutral. The BBC always vouch theirs from the left of centre implying they are morally correct. That immediately implies all other views are morally wrong and it all goes down from there. Allowing guests to speak freely is far more productive for the depth of their story.

  5. The same thing is happening in USA. Working people (who are usually socially conservative) of all races have backed Trump and the Republicans. The Left have taken over the Democrats, the media and much of the bureaucracy.

  13. When David was growing up, upward social mobility was possible and doable via the Grammar School system. Those of us with vocational abilities went to Secondary Modern. Labour could have the working class being bled away so invented the Comprehensive Schools. Everyone was brought to the lowest common denominator.

  16. It's not just "The North". The South West constituencies from Swindon down to Penzance is almost totally Leave voting. And don't forget Wales who "benefitted" from EU projects. They also voted to Leave.

  22. I’m from the midland, later moved to the South West. People here are more pro British than I’ve seen elsewhere but they are absolutely not racist and are not race obsessed either. We don’t see the need to take control over who gets offended over whatever.

  25.  @alanjackson4646  Fracking happens thousands of feet below any ground water deposits. It only affects ground water when the wells are badly cased - bad workmanship. BTW, a failed casing caused the Deep Water Horizon disaster also shoddy workmanship. But we don't need fracking for gas or oil when we have molten salt nuclear reactors. These are intrinsically safe allowing the plant to be built at low cost and undercut coal on costs per megawatt. They can also burn thorium, a far more abundant and less harmful fuel than natural uranium. Molten salts are hot enough to desalinate sea water or provide heat for chemical processes such as ammonia and methanol production. The old and phenominally expensive (yet still risky PWR) is not hot enough to do any of that.

  26. Something else to discuss is molten salt nuclear reactors. These have been shown to be super safe without the complex engineering to keep the current nukes running safely. That makes them very low cost and with factory built modules cheaper than coal. But the establishment does not want to know. They are being stifled by regulations designed to regulate fundamentally dangerous PWR reactors. Ultra safe, zero CO2 energy that's cheaper than coal can stop global warming but there has to be the political will to get it done. The first plant f this type will be built by Moltex a British company People to talk to Ian Scott of Moltex Energy Ltd. Kirk Sorensen of FLIBE Energy. Robert Hargraves (economics of energy), Baroness Bryony Worthington (green campaigner).

  27. JRM's attachment to the Conservative Party was so strong that he allowed himself to vote for May's awful treaty simply because it looked like that or no Brexit at all. He was wrong but I think he greatly regrets that move. As for Boris Johnson I have no idea. I hope he will continue to No Deal at Haloween, but I'm not entirely sure he won't fold or allow Parliament to screw him over in some way.

People like James Dyson and Jeremy Branford are pushing the boundaries but really not very much. The need for The World’s 3 Billion poor to be allowed some benefit of technology can be provided by the new super safe super simple nuclear power systems. Richard Hargrave of ThorCon and Ian Scott of Moltex are making the running in new nuclear. Making it simple makes it fundamentally safe and therefore very low cost. Cheap means the poor can use it. Cheap and super safe means we all (rich and poor) should use it.

  46. Slavery ended when more powerful energy sources became available. It’s no coincidence that U.K. started the industrial revolution and U.K. put down the slave trade in Africa. Oil as a power source came along in late C19th so no surprises that USA took until 1885 to ban slavery. The power solution of today is nuclear energy. But cheap clean energy directly undermines the woke/green narrative so they constantly conflate it with nuclear bombs.

Hitler ran a version of the same theology. One racial group was put on a pedestal while another was denounced. All done so the state would control means of producing wealth and all of the assets.
