Comments by "David Elliott" (@davidelliott5843) on "TIMING CHAINS vs. BELTS - Differences, Evolution, History and more" video.
Timing chain is (usually) a bigger job to replace and costs more in parts, but it's much less likely to fail without warning (they rattle - belts don't). Timing sprockets are fine until the chain wears. Wear extends the individual link spacing. That causes the rollers to impact the sprocket teeth rather than sliding in neatly. If you leave it until it's rattling the sprockets will be worn out as well. Timing belts usually fail by losing teeth. Before long, enough teeth get knocked off and the belt slips.

BMW N24 would have been fine if they had fitted a bypass oil filter. These take 10% of the oil flow and filter to sub micron levels.

@XStuntManiac The 165 bhp Rotax E-Tech is an 800cc two stroke which beats its four stroke competition in cost, weight, fuel consumption and emissions. Its downside is noise but to be fair any high power engine will be noisy. Detune it to car engine levels and it wont be noisy.

@davidrobert2007 Shaft driven cams have a problem with thermal expansion affecting the spur gears engagement. That's why Ducati went to belts for their V twins.
