  1. My wife’s 2005 Pontiac Vibe (Matrix) has 190,000 miles. We change oil twice a year. What I find amazing is the oil is always clean and never needs oil added between changes. We live in the Rust Belt and there are only a few small spots of rust on the vehicle after 17 years of ownership.

  2. Must be a characteristic of some Toyota engines. My wife’s 2005 Matrix with 190,000 miles gets the oil changed twice a year with whatever the local mechanic puts in. What surprises me is the oil never gets that dark and dirty look between changes like other family cars do.

  3. 2005 Toyota Matrix 190,000. Changed oil twice a year. One thing I notice is that oil is always clean. Never changed transmission fluid. Still average 30MPG. Some small areas of rust. Live in “rust belt” where roads are salted in winter. Coolant changed at 100,000 miles.
