I was thinking maybe Boris wants to let the world see Macron throwing a spiteful tantrum, with his inhumane threats of willfully inflicting suffering on his fellow human beings, and at Christmas time too, the season of goodwill to all men ( and women, for the feminists! 😂) so that later, if we have to show the Bulldogs teeth we won't be castigated for it, but that people will say, it was justified. Taking the high ground is the best place to be in any battle! 😊 That's my hope anyway.

@metal1999 Good tactics in a battle if you want to make your enemy look bad to an observing world, though. It's always better to look honourable, even if you're not!

Macrons threat is not just unreasonable, it's evil. Every year old people die because of the cold, hospital incubators etc rely on energy to keep endangered and sick babies and adults alive. At best he is literally threatening extreme hardship and at worst death to his fellow human beings at the coldest time of the year in Britain. I wonder if the rest of Europe, who will be affected economically by his tantrum too , would endorse or support such a inhumane, needlessly vicious tactic. Like the saying goes with " friends" like this who needs enemies?. Boris stop saying it, we've been very polite so far, now it's time for some straight talking ,and action.

I can't see many members of the EU states supporting the inhumane tactic of cutting off peoples food and energy supply in this season of goodwill to all men, so maybe they'll just keep quiet and let Macron make a spectacle of himself. If Boris caves, they'll be happy, but if it escalates with Britain showing they can play hardball too, the EU can say they never endorsed Macrons threats of what amounts to an act of war. The slippery buggers are probably waiting to see what pans out.
