@TheInfamousMrFox I’d bet his fancy watch he’s less afraid of a NATO missile than a Russian one. Well, an oligarchy sponsored one…made/launched by Iran, North Korea, China, or Russia.

@TheInsaneupsdriver uhhh, what? Explain, please.

@ziqi92 No, they are not socialist, nor do they claim to be socialist. The President of either Norway or Sweden addressed this precise misconception in a talk he gave while in America. He admitted they attempted to try a socialism experiment and soon stopped it before it became an unmitigated disaster. He openly criticizes socialism, calling it a failure. And it is; every example of it either has ended in failure, or is presently a failure.

@viljamikoivunen6297 Come on, that ‘alliance’ was one of self-interest, not of some brotherly love between Germans and Russians. Each hated the other with an intense racial hatred, and Stalin would have done exactly what Hitler did if it suited his interests. And if you think the war between the two was just something Putin ‘claims,’ for your own safety do not ever say that in front of a Russian. Russia lost nearly 30 million civilians and military personnel during the war. It would not, nor does not, take much in the way of propaganda to tap into the hate that memory brings about.

Seems like the military adopts this hierarchy as well, from conscripts on up.

@ThisisFred-dt4mq Yes. That was Patton’s suggestion.

This is true. One of my favorite MiG-25 photos is of one doing a low pass over a farm field. The farmer is tilling the field with two oxen pulling the single-bladed tiller he’s walking behind and guiding. It’s a fairly popular photo - I’ve seen it in a few books, including an “R” or an “S” encyclopedia about Russia or the Soviet Union. It was one of the most striking examples of dichotomy I had ever seen.

@ZontarDow No, it does not. Yet…. View my above reply to the OP.

@romany8125 I’d say he’s a freshman in a liberal (aren’t they all now) college that stumbled into a likeminded cult of idiots, but with the emotional intelligence of a 12 year old.

Well, maybe not many RollsRoyce Merlins, but definitely a shit-ton of American Allisons for their American fighter aircraft. Both countries definitely helped kickstart the Soviet manufacturing machine on an industrial scale, but this didn’t have anything to do with Lend-Lease. But don’t tell this to a Russian. Lend-lease has been erased from their indoctrina…, oops, I meant history texts. But in fairness, the Soviets manufactured a lot of war fighting machines prior to and during WWII. The number of tanks is huge, and one of the aircraft of many they produced was made in more copies than any other combat plane. Couple this with the fact that Stalin ordered all manufacturing to be uprooted and moved to the east of the Urals, while they were fighting off an invasion. Too bad all this industrial capacity is offset by the blood Stalin spilled to achieve it.

Oh damn, 10% smaller than Italy’s? That IS embarrassing. It would even have been embarrassing if it was 4-5x that of Italy. So much for thinking most of the countries within Africa are the only nations unable to manage their resource wealth. Are Russian in current and historical leadership just pathologically corrupt and incapable of governing their population and resources wisely and with stewardship?
