  1. 10:45. I love it. Poppy production soared under America’s occupation, but the Taliban largely eradicated it. I wonder how much of that opium made it to the American consumer - kinda makes you wonder about our war on drugs. Perhaps the DEA should recruit the Taliban, if we’re so serious about keeping drugs off our streets.

  2. Agreed. Maybe a drawdown, but complete withdrawal isn’t just looking bad for Afghanistan, but a disaster for the region.

  8. Not really. Britain fueled their WWII victory over the Nazis with oil from this region. It at least tried instead of simply withdrawing. Ya, it’s complicated, but the British aren’t all bad. Besides, who’s to say the situation wouldn’t be 10x worse had they simply vacated? The only constant with anything Islam, is instability. And it’s not like the Middle East would have gone back to its stone age culture after the War…not with oil under the ground.
