@patriciakeys4873 Yes. It’s called code switching. Anyone of mixed heritage could have informed you. It’s not malicious, it’s necessary for functioning in society. For example: me right now revealing my own mixed heritage for the first time in public to defend someone else who goes through the same very normal thing.

@dalegaliniak607 That’s because “white” is just the absence of racialization. It can be given or taken, ask anyone who’s white enough for the census bureau but not the country club. Currently cultural identity doesn’t have a prejudged category to push back against.
