The Maccabean Revolt resulted in a military alliance between Judea and Rome. And the temple was only looted because Rome had pressured the Seleucids not to invade Egypt, leaving the army broke.

The menorah is the seven-branched one from the temple. In Hebrew, a menorah is any device used for lighting. So a hanukkiah is a menorah, but not the menorah.

The Temple wasn’t looted because of religious differences. Rather, the Seleucid Army was broke due to having been forced by Rome to withdraw from a planned invasion of Egypt which was to be financed through plunder after the fact. The Jewish Temple meanwhile had a full treasury due to being near the end of the seven-year financial cycle known as Shmita, making it an easy target.
