Oh, very much so. It's called the Northern Cities Shift, and it shares qualities with St. Louis, Upstate New York, and other places on or near the Great Lakes. My hometown of Pasadena, CA actually has something closer to a Chicago accent than to the rest of California. Look up clips of Brian Doyle Murray, Joan Cusack, Gene Siskel, Bonnie Hunt for reference.

@Alusnovalotus One does not call a Pasadenan an LA native. Anyway the accent comes from the city's founders, who mostly came from around Lake Michigan.

@sean668 It was never "Joisey," it was more like "juyzy," and was prominent among speakers born before 1920.

I struggle with localization just making videos about *actual history*. So far I've mostly used English names for ancient Jewish figures, but at some point in the Middle Ages I'll have to switch over to Hebrew or the local language just to keep from sounding odd.
