  1. I have seen device like that at least 10 years ago. The only difference was tens of thousands of $ price tag. They may get hit hard with some patent violation court cases. No matter if deserved or not, it can get expensive. There should be a system in place pushing through life saving designs. This would also require publishing schematics and making replacement parts accessible. Right to repair.
