Ask yourself when there was last war your country was involved directly or indirectly last time and than look into history books. I can bet you will find longer periods of peace there. The longest peace in Europe would be Sweden, but many of them benefited out of last one, everyone will remember that. All connects us on the sate level are good intentions and even those are easily broken for greed an dominance. EU kinda wants to put that behind, but to achieve it everyone has to give in.
