Old refrigerators was so inefficient, but they worked for decades. New ones doesn't last more than 5 years and the repair is made impossible by the manufacturing process design. All that efficiency goes out the window.

@rsrs8632 No. We need a solid right to repair law. Producers should be banned from using techniques making repairs impossible, they should be obligated to ensure access to replacement parts, schematics and repair manuals for the third party repair shops. When consumer will go x times to a repair his item, and repair man will expose all the flaws of the device, market will self regulate towards more economic and durable solutions.
