Their society is extremely misogynistic, being female you are sold like a goat, especially if you are wealthy. One of the ways out of arranged marriage is to dedicate yourself to knowledge. Guys don't like intelligent women, too much trouble. They are still in dark ages. In Europe women used to go to a monastery and only people we can read about is kings and their great achievements - just like in this video :)
