I don't think people realize how dangerous this is. I was in polish military service i 1999. We supposed to be the last obligatory year, but for 'reasons' it was pulled for several more. Back than in most cases they took you hundreds of Km away to keep army "national" and not "regional". At that time 99% of officers came from old socialist structures. There was a constant uncertainty among them as to if their contract will get prolonged for the following year. It was their profession, and they was really angry about how every their move is politicized and used against them. From what I know most of them lost their job within just a couple years. When Poland declared creation of the territorial defense forces, I thought it is the best decision they made. Professional soldiers with strong ties to the local civilians and deep knowledge of conditions in their region is really way to go. Shame, that we are back to square one, where one party has a tight grip on every general's balls. This people will never change. They just swap their heads but methods they use are exactly the same.
