One of my HUGE pet peeves is when people talk about Shein or Temu like "So what, you hate poor people you don't want poor people to be able to afford stuff?" thing should be affordable obviously but no, Becky, you should not be buying 10 t-shirts a day just because they're cheap like ??? stop buying stuff all the time

@howareyou4400 That's sort of the point, just because lower income people now can shopping binge with places like Temu or Shein, doesn't mean they now should.

@TassieJake If you buy a 10,000$ car instead of the 15,000$ car, and then end up spending over 5000$ yearly in repairs, was it still a good price? No, obviously not, it was just cheap.

@snooploops Poor people not being able to do conspicuous consumption does not make them victims. Your idea of "enjoying things" should under no circumstance be buying tons of crap for no reason and it's in no way comparable to getting yourself a coffee, jesus christ.

@Sarah-said Low income people (I'm also on disability welfare) unfortunately don't have the luxury to choose the most ethical choice. My original point was that that's not an excuse to buy in excess.

@joyitadarling5815 You should always take your own circumstances into account which is why my issue in that original comment isn't with people buying Shein at all, it's with people buying loads of stuff they don't need just because they can.
