It wasn't mentioned in the video but it's impressive that they offer ventilated seats on such a small and "regular" car. Hyundai did offer that with the leather seats in the latest i30 too, so in that sense it's not that surprising for Hyundai but for the segment it's wild.

I do like the look and stuff, one confusion is that Citroën specifically went back to physical knobs in the facelift for the previous C5 Aircross after they were touch only on the pre-refresh, but now in the new model they've gone back. Strange.

308 litres of boot space is only 70 or so litres off of a Golf which is two segments above the Spring, it's something I've noticed after following the Chinese car market that Chinese customers (as do Americans actually to a lesser extent) value back seat legroom far more than Europeans do, even in cars that are far off from being meant for chauffeuring.

It's so strange to have Musk simultaneously head an EV company yet side with the people who want less EVs. Maybe he wants people to only buy his EVs, and nobody else's?
15
This also looks near identical to the concept, just without the faux offroad bits the concept had. Madly impressed at the low load floor in the boot! That is rare to see.

@schwingadysn That thing is not a wagon, what are you on about?
8
They're not making one. The CEO stated at the reveal that Volvo won't introduce any new estate cars, you get the hatch, and that's it.

I've loved all of Mercedes' recent designs but man... This is absolutely hideous :(
6
Ah yes, ride comfort and efficiency, things at the top of people's minds when buying the SPORTS MODEL
6
@Stewiedude1 One thing Mercedes does that pisses me off too is that they can put ventilated seats on artico pleather, but they won't on more expensive models. On some cheaper models like GLB/GLA you can get ventilation with artico, but if you buy E, S, EQS you have to go real leather for ventilation.

@_sabot The main beams are in the upper half of the corner vents in the bumper, they are pretty well hidden.

I wish the bootlid wasn't as raked, that combined with the reclined rear seats makes the trunk (at least look like) an awkward shape. The car could stay the same size with more practicality if the rear was just a bit boxier with a more vertical rear.
2
It is usable for any phone, however when you buy a phone or a charger it comes with a USB-C to USB-C cable. You'd have to buy a separate accessory adapter to use with your car, which while not horribly expensive, is still annoying which is why it's pointed out.

They've already decided to not bring the bigger battery to some markets (importer decision) because the smaller battery is so much better. The official range is hardly smaller, yet the fast charging speed is doubled (and is faster than many rivals!), the acceleration is better, and the chemistry is LFP which for most scenarios is vastly superior to NMC.

Based on pictures I've seen this doesn't have the physical knobs in the middle in the Chinese market, so I suppose they've gathered that Europeans want that, but Chinese customers don't really, so they've only added them for Europe? Curious.
1
@d33pNacho Oh no, brands could do it pretty easily. It's just that literally nobody would buy one so they don't.

I do like the Mini's interior style but I have to say I went to a new car expo not even a week ago, sat in a Cooper SE, a Countryman and an Aceman and the user interface on the adorable round screen gave me an aneurysm. I switched the "experiences" button to something and the seat massage (which was really uncomfortable, btw) turned on from that, and it took minutes of delving deep into menus to turn it off instead of it being somewhere with the seat heating function, for example. I also fiddled with the R5 while I was there, no complaints about that besides the silly three stalk system Renault has on the right side of their wheel.
1
I didn't particularly love the thick steering wheels of the Minis either, but fair play, although hard to get into the back the Cooper had decent rear space for someone of my height (177cm).

If only they also were making a wagon version, but it seems just like Mercedes with the EQE, there will be no such thing. The CEO claimed at the reveal of this that the market has changed and a wagon would be too expensive to make, so they'll focus on saloons and suvs only from now on. End of an era with Volvo...
1
@WheelieTheCapper I'm not a Tesla fan but they get away with it because Tesla is largely a software company and they got onto the all in one infotainment game way back in like 2013 or so, so they have plenty of experience in making their own infotainments
1
6:15 Not from the front angle but the rear roofline is very similiar to the A2, yes
1
Ford putting their own infotainment software into this and the Explorer EV was the smartest move to distinguish them from their VW platform mates.
1
According to the CEO it's too expensive and the market has changed, so they'll focus on saloons and SUVs only from now on.
1
Not mentioned in the video but you'll also be able to buy this later on as a Toyota, since they're too lazy to develop EVs. Judging by the concepts they'll just swap the front bumper out and call it a day, like a reverse of the Suzuki Across.
1
I enjoy how the Mercedes design is obvious in this new generation of Smarts, makes this #3 look like a mini EQS SUV. It's even got the same wheel design as the Maybach version, hah!

BYD originally was gonna name most of their cars "Atto [number]" for export but for whatever reason are only doing it with the Atto 3 and now Atto 2, despite them using the Dynasty and Ocean series naming for export too now. I understand "BYD Yuan" might be a bit confusing when Yuan is the term for the currency in China, but they could've still chosen something else, I feel since they sell the BYD Han, BYD Tang etc with their original names.
1
They won't release a wagon, unfortunately. The CEO said it at the reveal, that the market has changed and it would be too expensive, so they won't release new wagons anymore.
1
It's a bit weird. If you go ICE you can get a 5-door cooper, but for whatever reason if you want a 5-door EV mini hatch you have to go for the Aceman. Well, Mini's platform logic is a bit weird in general, given the ICE mini, the EV mini and the mini convertible each being on their own individual platform not shared with the others.
1
Of course looks don't particularly matter in utility vans but I won't lie, this new Transporter is really ugly at the front end. Plus it is weird for Volkswagen to have three different van platforms (Multivan, Buzz and this), like how Mini has three 2-door minis on different platforms (convertible on old generation, ICE on it's own new platform and EV on it's own as well).
1
Unfortunately the CEO stated it won't happen, and that Volvo won't be introducing any new wagons anymore.
1
That's because the Renault 5's interior looks the same as earlier, more expensive Renault models like the Scenic, Espace etc.
1
Why are you even on this channel lol
