No, Mercedes deemed it too expensive to develop both a C-Coupé/Cabrio and another for the E-Class, so instead they developed this. Which is based on the C, but is larger than the outgoing E.

Why would it be called CLC when it's longer than the outgoing E-Class Coupé and the last generation of the CLC was a tiny hatchback?

It tickles me pink how upset people (and how many) are about the existence of a B-pillar! 😁 Anyway, I like almost everything about the design bar the exhaust fakery, but that's been every Mercedes for the past decade so it's not exclusive to this car. Glad it didn't inherit the tristar taillights from the new E, and that although this is replacing both the old E and C coupés, this is the same size (actually larger) than the old E-Class coupé. That's one good reason why this isn't called a C-Class.

Admittedly yes, this will not have E-Class luxury, but this is the same size (actually longer, don't know about width) than the outgoing E coupe with barely a smaller trunk so practicality should stay the same.

The previous CLC was a tiny hatchback though. This is longer than the outgoing E-coupe.

@yissibiiyte It's already confirmed the CLE will get 6-cylinder engines.

It's too big to be a CLK. This is 10cm longer than a C-class sedan. In any case, Mercedes doesn't use the "K" letter in any names anymore.
