@EcoNumbersNMore But you can only use the battery swap if you use the subscription service. If you buy the NIO then you just have to deal with slow charging.

@Lucas-wp2ph > oil consumption In an EV?

@ThanhVo-zr6iy Obviously it supports charging, all EVs do. I said support faster charging. NIO told Autogefühl among others that they didn't put as fast charging in their cars as others, since they have battery swapping technology and that is true. NIO EL7 has fast charging capability of 140kW DC. XPENG G9 has capability of 300kW DC. That's a large difference.

@ThanhVo-zr6iy So then it's even worse that a non-luxury car has better charging than a luxury car.

@ThanhVo-zr6iy Okay so let's forget Xpeng. Lucid, Mercedes, Genesis, Porsche, Volvo, all make luxury EVs with 250-300kW DC fast charging so even in the luxury segment NIO de-prioritized charging speed. You don't need to defend a company, you know. NIO won't send you a free car for being loyal.

@Jajalaatmaar The Xpeng G9 would certainly be my choice, as it doesn't bank on the battery swapping. I recall NIOs don't charge very fast because they focus too much on battery swapping which is currently not feasible and only works if you use the subscription.

The car itself seems good, and there are plenty of unique details about it that I love! Mostly in the interior. I just can't get over the astronomical pricing, nor the absolute waste of having a proprietary infrastructure. Imagine if every car brand had their own gas stations, and every pump only fit a certain model! What a waste of space and resources. So I would much rather go with Xpeng for the category, since they support faster charging instead of relying on subscription battery swapping.
