"nearly all vehicles are bad investments" I never understood this attitude of cars as needing to hold value because do you expect to resell an old laundry machine too for most of the original value? I don't know...

It's way easier to start making electricity yourself than refining petroleum if shit hits the fan.

@bsmirnov I don't know why cooking oil would be any easier to have access to in a doomsday scenario than diesel. I suppose a mcdonald's is easier to break into than a refinery but most people won't be able to produce either of those.

@bsmirnov I don't think you'd get a very large yield without an orchard, an olive tree for some extra virgin to cook with is one thing but an engine that burns gallons to go a hundred miles is another.

@bsmirnov Yes, those are all oil plants, I don't know what your point is. If you have a giant farm full of those crops, then great!

15:30 We'll have to wait and see about the Magneto concept but the Jeep Recon is coming first pretty soon which is a less fender-y and slightly less tear into pieces-y electric wrangler. I prefer the box on wheels styling of that over the Wrangler, but it is tamer it seems.
