Because if they did they'd have nearly every country with any military credibility on their ass and kicked out of everything. PS: You didn't "win" ww2 because 1: Most of the time you were just helping the allies by sending in equipment. During the same time actually, finland solved our threat by fighting the USSR by tricking hitler with an agreement for tons and tons of equipment but, the agreement had a hidden trick which meant that after we had everything we needed we tricked the agreement by the president stepping out of power. Back on point, the US came to the war to fight at the very end to sort of "finish the job" and ever since that day we've heard nothing else but USA WON ww2 WE'RE THE GREATEST EUROPEAN SHITS ARE NOTHING WITHOUT US. 2: There are no winners at war no matter how cheesy it sounds.

If 60% is going to military, then imagine how you could fix your police force, education and nearly everything wrong with the US only if you just redirected, i don't know, 40% of that military budget to more important stuff?
